Each week, Boot Camp Jamz™ welcomes guest artists and speakers from the contemporary music scene. Master classes and clinics include musicians, radio and broadcast industry reps, producers, and others who share their talents and experiences.
Outstanding artist faculty with a Conservatory Curriculum including bands, lessons and theory
The staff and faculty are what make Boot Camp Jamz™ different. Each artist/teacher has a proven recording and touring career, and a proven teaching career. The artist faculty has degrees and certificates from the Juilliard School, CCM, and has attended other major conservatories, including Berklee College. They are currently on the faculty at CCM and other music schools in the US.
Jammers learn to play and sing the music they love—rock, R&B, Pop! Boot Campers play in a band, attend rehearsals and classes each day focusing on music and their instruments. Classes include Music Theory and Eurhythmics.
Bringing or joining a rock band
Boot Camp Jammers will be placed in a band or they can bring their bands. Boot Camp Jamz ™makes every effort to group students into bands by age, experience and musical preference. Teachers lead their groups through rehearsing standard cover tunes and through a process of writing and performing an original song. This includes instruction in songwriting, ensemble playing, and stage presence. Jammers form real friendships as they work towards a goal greater than themselves, performing in a real team experience!
Music Theory and Dalcroze-Eurhythmics
Dalcroze-Eurhythmics uses musical games, singing, movement and improvisation activities to teach the mind and body how to make music. At the advanced level, this is the graduate level Rhythm/Performance course at the Juilliard School. Boot Campers embody real time musical theory and embody real time musical expression. This is how music works!
Student to Staff Ratio
Boot Camp Jamz ™provides a safe, enjoyable experience for all campers. Our student to staff ratio is 5-to-1 (staff includes teachers, counselors, and administrative personnel), and our student to teacher ratio is 8-to-1.
Songwriting
Jammers learn the basics of songwriting. What the components of a song are, how they are written, what comes first. All good stuff!
Live Performances
Every Boot Camp Jamz ™week finishes with a Friday afternoon showcase concert at Jefferson Hall, Newport on the Levee at 2:30 pm. It is a great, fun, and casual way for bands to share their music and experiences with friends and family. The stage lights are hot, the sound system great, and the view is amazing.
