U Rock (University of Rock) Saturdays Information:
The next UROCK Saturdays session starts 10 am September 20, 2008 at Buddy Rogers on Beechmont Ave.
UROCK forms bands for 12 week sessions that perform live throughout the Cincinnati area. Bands play at the Cincinnati Zoo, the Museum Center, at Jefferson Hall, Newport on the Levee and an area tour.
UROCK is a rock band experience for young musicians ages 12 - 17 who rehearse weekly and are coached in performing rock standards, contemporary hits and writing original songs.
UROCK Starz is an alumni band and currently has 9 members, some who have been playing with the band for a year. There have been more than 19 members who have played with the Starz during the last school year.
At least 6-months experience is required for UROCK, with a knowledge of chords in 1st position and bar chords on the E and A string for guitarists. Vocalists are encouraged to sing both lead and background.
* 90 minutes once-a-week Saturdays
* For guitar, bass, drums, keyboards and vocals
* Instruments provided (except for guitars and basses)
* Tuition $25 a week, $300 a session.

BootCamp Jamz finishes first week of camp at Jefferson Hall and on FOX Channel 19 this July 4th!
BootCamp Jamz Rock Music summer camp finished it's June 23-27 week long camp with a concert Friday at 5 pm June 27 at Jefferson Hall, Newport on the Levee. The camp program will be featured on FOX Channel 19 this Friday July 4 at 8:45 am with a taped live performance of Mess America, a band formed during the last week.
Two bands, Mess America and Charcoal Bloodwork had formed for the first time that previous Monday morning June 23. Members traveled from as far away as Pakistan and Florida to attend, several for the second year in a row.
The UROCK Starz from the UROCK Saturday program at Buddy Rogers also performed a great set of six songs from Blink-182, the Beatles and more.
The concert at Jefferson Hall was amazing for the club's owner and sound engineer. They couldn't believe the talent and ablity of these young bands and said they performed better than many of the bands they pay to come in and play.
A taped live performance of 'Just a Girl' will be aired at 8:45 am this Friday July 4 on FOX Channel 19 performed by Mess America. The taping was a great experience for these young musicians.
BootCamp Jamz rock music summer camp week two runs July 7-11 at Purcell Marian and finishes with a concert at 5 pm Friday July 11 at Jefferson Hall. The camp is pretty full but has room for singers and bass players. Registration is available online.
